Learning Agreement Zhaw

As one of the leading engineering schools in Switzerland, we offer high-quality training in eight bachelor`s degree programs. The excellent infrastructure of the institutes and laboratories allows for practice-oriented teaching. A wide range of teaching methods are used: lectures, group lessons, practical exercises, industrial internships, blended learning and e-learning. If you wish to do a student exchange, your home university must officially appoint you. Applications should be addressed to: international.lsfm@zhaw.ch The Swiss-Europe Mobility Programme (SEMP) is the student exchange programme for European host universities and an interim solution that replaces the existing ERASMUS programme. SeMP exchanges are possible with institutions from all EU countries, EFTA States and associated countries such as Bulgaria, Romania, Cyprus and Turkey, with which the School of Life Sciences and Facility Management has concluded a valid interinstitutional agreement. The choice of university depends on your program of study. The ZHAW School of Management and Law further expands opportunities for students to study at universities outside europe and has agreements with more than 90 partner institutions in North America, Latin America, the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East and Africa. The conditions for studying abroad are the same as in the SEMP programme.

It is possible to apply for an SML mobility grant. The LA acts as a performance agreement between the student, the home university and the ZHAW LSFM. In the case of an SMS, the courses chosen and the corresponding ECTS must be listed in the LA, in the case of an SMT, the content and objectives of the exchange programme. ZHAW LSFM welcomes students from all over the world and maintains “bilateral agreements” with partner institutions in various countries outside Europe. Incoming exchange students who participate in this program therefore pay their tuition fees at their home universities, remain enrolled in their home universities, and do not pay tuition fees to the ZHAW. ZHAW students who complete an exchange semester on a bilateral contractual basis continue to pay their tuition fees to ZHAW, remain enrolled in ZHAW and do not pay tuition fees at their host universities. An exchange stay (exchange semester/master`s thesis) is also possible as part of the Master of Science in Engineering (MSE) for students from our partner universities (Swiss-European Mobility Programme / Erasmus+ and other bilateral agreements). Most modules of the Master`s programme are taught in English. To receive a link to the Free Mover online registration form, please contact the International Bureau international.lsfm@zhaw.ch with the full name and address of the target university. As a member of the SEMP, the ZHAW School of Management and Law therefore continues to comply with Erasmus+ agreements with more than 90 universities in Europe – from Sweden to Turkey and from Portugal to Estonia. SEMP exchange students remain enrolled at the ZHAW School of Management and Law and pay the usual ZHAW tuition fees.

Therefore, they do not pay tuition fees at their host universities and may have the right to apply for a federally funded SEMP mobility scholarship during their stay abroad. Given the current circumstances and the still unpredictable situation, we recommend that you make the necessary arrangements as late as possible, such as booking flights or renting student accommodation. For more information, please contact the International Relations Office of the School of Engineering (exchange.engineering@zhaw.ch) or the Head of International Relations (wolfgang.kickmaier@zhaw.ch). In addition to these bilateral exchange programs, the ZHAW School of Management and Law has entered into fee-based agreements with selected universities. These universities are located inside and outside Europe and have been included in the curriculum due to the quality of the school, language of instruction and/or specific courses corresponding to those of the ZHAW School of Management and Law. Students of the ZHAW School of Management and Law must pay tuition fees at these host institutions. Students can also apply for the ZHAW School of Management and Law Mobility Scholarship. When enrolling students in an exchange semester, we prefer those of our partner universities (Switzerland-Europe Mobility Programme/Erasmus+ and other bilateral agreements). However, we also welcome students from universities without a partnership contract with the ZHAW School of Engineering. If you have any administrative questions regarding your exchange, please contact the International Bureau (IO): international.lsfm@zhaw.ch. For specialist advice such as module selection and content, please contact our mobility agents.

From the 3rd semester, it is possible to apply for an exchange semester at the ZHAW LSFM. Depending on the study program, it can also be later – from the 4th semester. Please inquire in time about the person responsible for your programme of study in your field of study….
